Maybelline Color Show: Initial Thoughts & Pictures

Hello lovelies,

The other day, I popped by Watson's and lo and behold - there was a new, and interesting-looking display featuring this mad collection of bright popping colours.

I couldn't resist checking it out - and found that Maybelline had launched their latest range called Color Show!

The collection features daring, coloured eyeliner pencils, as well as similarly bright coloured nail polishes (retails at only SGD6.90 each).

I managed to get swatches for the pencils.

Eyeliner Pencils - retails at SGD8.90 each
Left to Right
Spicy Orange, Purple, Beige, Ocean Blue, Peacock Green

Left to Right
Inca Gold, Cacao Brown, White, Deep Black

The kohl pencils went on smoothly -  and surprisingly some colours stayed on even after some vigorous rubbing off - water and soap didn't help either!

Only after I used regular makeup remover, did the colours go off completely.

Talk about incidental longstaying capabilities!

PROMOTION ALERT @ Watson's!

**From the Color Show Collection:  Buy any 3 Maybelline items  and get 1 free!

**From Maybelline range:  You get 1 free item for every 2 products bought!

**Note: Check instore before purchase that promotion is still valid.

Cheers

Bought & Thoughts: Revlon ColourBurst Lacquer Balm

Hello lovelies,

Revlon has released their latest range - ColourBurst Lacquer Balm - which offers a moisturising, high shine lipstain.

The whole collection itself offers 10 shades and you can check them out on Revlon's official website.

So I went ahead and tried out 2 colours that struck me at that point of time.

Left:  Whimsical Fantasiste - a bright magenta
Right:  Ingenué - a neutral beige-slightly orange tone

Popped them both on my lips:

Whimsical Fantasiste

Ingenué

The high shine comes from the little glitter particles that make up part of the formulation for this range - and between you and me, I took a while to get used to the idea of glitter on my lips!

It took a few swipes to get the tone to a depth I was comfortable with, especially with Whimsical Fantasist, yet it somehow still lacked the vibrance that I was originally aiming for.

Ingenué, though, worked pretty well for me after 2 swipes, so I can't really complain.

If you like glittery things and want a little bit more shine to your life, then this range is definitely for you.

They are available at all retail stores that carry the Revlon range (and yes, that means predominantly at Watson's and Guardians stores - YAY!)

Retail price in SGD - let me get back to you ladies - need to check and update this blog again!

Till then, happy adventuring in the world of makeup!

Cheers

Collection Cosmetics (Collections 2000) : Thoughts on Cover and Go Foundation & Concealer Duo

Hello lovelies,

I just discovered that Collection Cosmetics (formerly known as Collections 2000) has recently launched in Singapore!

*Click here to Like their FB page, there is a promotion on till 31 Jan 2014 - where you can get $2 off any purchase of their product.

Collections 2000 is a very popular drugstore brand from the UK, that features quality products at really affordable prices.

The Pixiwoo sisters, feature at least any one of their products from their range, quite consistently on their makeup tutorials.

I got curious and decided to try out their Cover and Go Foundation and Concealer Duo, in the tone Fair.

At first sight, the foundation applied on like a rich moisturiser - it's consistency felt slightly thick, yet spread easily.

After blending out.

The foundation has a definite emollient quality to it, and would be perfect for days when the weather is drier and colder, and would be a boon for those who have dry or very dry skin.

The foundation offers light to medium coverage at best.

The concealer, on the other hand, seemed more like a tone corrector, and covered decently.

After blending out.

I used it yesterday to test the longevity and the weather being how it is now in SG  (which is cool mostly, with little humidity) - it stayed pretty well on the skin with little shine.

Of course, please do note that my skin texture is more to the dry side - hence this foundation worked well.  There was some oxidation inevitably but nothing too noticeable.

The only concern I think might be, when the weather starts to get more humid - which will start soon in March all the way to June - then you might want to layer on an anti-shine powder on top of the foundation so that the makeup won't slide off so easily.

Collection Cosmetics is now available BHG Bugis & Orchard Cineleisure. Watsons at Bugis Junction, Compass Point, Ngee Ann City, North Point, Star Vista, Tampines Mall, Tiong Bahru Plaza, Toa Payoh Hub, United Square, Vivocity and Westgate Mall.

My Hair Affair with Essensuals@Orchard : 2014 Tri-Coloured Hair!

Hello lovelies,

My hair was in need of a refreshing change again!

So off I went to Essensuals@OC and paid a visit to my über stylist - Sky - who recently won the TrendVision Stylist of the Year 2013! A well-deserved win - congrats again Sky!  Check out that link here.

He has done wonders to my hair that no other stylist has managed to do, coz he took the time to analyze my hair type with his wealth of experience.

Now my hair is in the best condition it has ever been!

Sky has tended to my every whim and fancy on hair (as long as it's acceptable in an office environment) and has given some of the best stylist advice - he's not afraid to divulge key factors for achieving a great hair style, and always recommends the best.

One thing I absolutely LOVE about Essensuals@Orchard is that they NEVER push products or plans to their clients. That was like, the other main thing that kept me going back to them!

Best move ever by a salon to maintain their clientele!  LOVE IT!

When I got tired of my curls, and wanted a staid, sublime hairstyle….

When he recommended to go for a keratin treatment and my hair was at its softest and most well-behaved ever!

When I got tired of the browns and reds and decided to go purple….

When I got my first real hairstyling cut (after I grew it long at Sky's advice) and it turned into wavy, natural locks….

When I only wanted to colour retouch but Sky had a better idea and gave me tri-coloured hair - brown and red - and that played off well with my leftover blonde highlights!
OMG I LOVE THIS!

So if you're in need of a great stylist coz you think no one understands your hair, I'd recommend you to hook up with Sky for a consultation!

FYI, I am in no way affiliated with the salon nor do I earn any commission thru this blog post.

I am just paying it forward and sharing the love y'all!

Cheers

Bought & Thoughts: MAC Magnetic Nudes Collection

Hello lovelies,

So MAC has been releasing a bunch of new collections recently.

One which came highly recommended was their Magnetic Nude collection.

(pic from MAC official website)

2 items came highly recommended to me - the cremesheen lipstick in Morning Rose, and the Extra Dimension SkinFinish in Fairly Precious.

Morning Rose Cremesheen Lipstick

I tried this on today, and am pretty surprised at it's longevity on the lips - it cremesheen hence it's moisturising for me as well!

Fairly Precious Extra Dimension SkinFinish

This doubled up as a blusher for me today and I loved the glow it gave (I am such a sucker for highlights and dewy glows, etc etc).

Also, this is yet another collection that will soon be sold out due to the gorgeous colours it carries.

The colours are all pretty complementary for all skintones and is superb for daily use definitely - honestly, go check it out now before it's all gone!

Cheers

RAVE Product: MAC'S Huggable Lipcolour!

Hello lovelies,

YES I have got a rave today!

Recently my beauty buddy Glamify SG alerted me to the arrival of MAC's latest trend lip collection - Huggable Lipcolours.

(pic from the official MAC website)

She did a more extensive review on this collection here.

At first sight, I wasn't really keen, as I thought that it was about the same as my reliable, old Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain which I use almost on a daily basis.

But Glamify SG managed to coax me into purchasing one - and my inner goth - was inadvertently attracted to the collection's darkest tone - Commotion.

So I tried it on - and OH.MY.GOD.

It has the most unbelievable texture on the lips.

It's like having luxe on your lips….  Like enveloping soft cashmere on your mouth (OK, sounds weird but I don't know how else to say it!)

Top lip is bare
Bottom lip with Commotion

As you can clearly see, the lipstick does not settle into the fine lines of the lips! Thus you can dump your lip primer (for those who do use it, like me - yes I have very 'line-y' lips).

After this divine experience, I went a little haywire and bought another TWO colours.

Touchè

 Red Necessity

Do note that this range of lipcolours will not be part of their regular collection.  This is a trend issue hence it will only be available until it is out of stock (which is happening really, really fast already.)

Honestly, my lips have never felt so… pampered! The texture helps a lot for people with regularly dried lips like me.

QUICK - grab yours now.

Cheers
